Peter Pete is Professor of Economics at Eltecon, founder and former Head of the Economics Department. He was among the very few in his generation and among the very first Hungarians to have obtained a PhD degree from the US (University of Connecticut) and to have started his career in the Western world of academia and policy making. After his graduation, Peter first served as Assistant professor at the University of Colorado, then moved on to try himself out as a Senior Analyst at the New Zealand Treasury. After moving back to Hungary in 1994, he held high-level academic positions at various Hungarian universities, has played an integral role in several large-scale educational reforms and has vast teaching experience at all levels of the BA and MA curriculum. As the lecturer responsible for the very first introductory course at Eltecon, he has been an emblematic figure since the first semester of the program in 2008.
